New Paintings by Grace Watts

Artist statement: The illumination of one’s purpose and direction inspired this selection of paintings, deriving from my research in cosmology, spirituality, and philosophy. Here, I explored the individual’s journey guided through light and energy.

I am fascinated by the process through which one’s destiny reveals itself—a theme I explored in paintings Magnetic and Quiet Storm. Similarly, in Aux Chandelles and Lustre à Lace, the dynamic, gestural marks allude to a glow of inspiration and a sense of voyage. The title Hermes references the Greek god of messengers and guide of souls. I think of messages in the form of intuition—subtle prompts that move us to action, and lead us toward paths aligned with both our body and mind.

Drawing from Jungian concepts of individuation — the process in which the self becomes whole and fully integrated — The Celestial Rose synthesizes the unfolding of transformation with a flower that symbolizes love, beauty, and spiritual growth. Painted during January’s full moon, Wolf Moon weaves cosmological themes and a reverence for the natural world.

This new body of work invites the viewers to open themselves — to receive guidance by connecting with their intuition.
